Importing Contacts

To continue with tonight's theme about import, let me suggest some ways to get extensive collections of contact data into Kiko. We offer import, of course, from the industry-standard vCard format, but many applications unfortunately don't export into that format.

If you're just moving over from Outlook (or contemplating doing so), the best solution seems to be the aptly-named piece of shareware vCard4Outlook. It's free to use and will export a whole folder of contacts into a single vCard file.

More technically inclined users or those interested in Free Software might find the Outlook converter csv2vcard or the GMail converting Ruby script csv2vCard helpful.

And finally, for those of you who are looking to convert from a wider array of platforms including AOL and the Netscape/Mozilla suite, Address Magic seems to do it all, but it will cost you about $30 or so.

We understand that those are all fairly interim solutions, and we are working on a full-blown syncserver that will interface with Outlook, Palm, and GSM phones, including full 2-way synchronization, but that will take some time.
